About our Guest
Michael Duffy, MEd
Montessori Elementary Teacher Training Collaborative (METTC)
Michael Duffy has been involved in Montessori education for a half century, since his daughter fist entered a Montessori school at the age of 2 1/2. His wife, D’Neil, started her own Montessori school in rural Georgia, and Michael abandoned a career in journalism to join her in the classroom after getting his 6-12 certification from AMS-affiliated CMTE/NY. He taught for a decade in lower and upper elementary classes, then became involved in teacher training for CMTE in New Rochelle, NY, Phoenix, AZ, Toronto, and Puerto Rico. When CMTE closed its elementary training, Michael and his wife helped co-found the Montessori Elementary Teacher Training Collaborative (METTC) in Lexington, MA, where Michael continues as a current staff member. Michael and D’Neil wrote or co-wrote three books on Montessori education, including “Children of the Universe,” a work about Cosmic Education. They were awarded AMS’s “Living Legacy” honor in 2018 and MACTE’s “Wisdom of the Elders” award in 2015. His passion for Montessori education keeps him involved in METTC and private consulting.
