Kelly and Adam Ladd join us to talk about creating a positive social environment for Adolescents. They describe the proactive structures that support a healthy social environment, such as student-created Community Ethics and student-led Council Meetings. Other proactive steps involve the spiritual preparation of the adult and effective parent communication. Kelly and Adam also discuss using a combination of observation and intuition when reacting to situations in real time. Knowing when to sit back and when to step in is an art! About our Guests
Kelly Ladd
Humanities & Language Arts Guide, Children's Meeting House
Kelly has a Bachelors and licensure in Integrated Social Studies from Kent State and a second licensure in Integrated Language Arts from the University of Akron. Kelly spent 12 years teaching history, theater, journalism, and speech & debate in a public high school in northeast Ohio before earning her AMI certification in Adolescent Studies. She taught at both Ruffing Montessori School and Hudson Montessori School. In 2020, Kelly moved to Arizona to help start a farm-based Adolescent program at Creo Montessori School. She and Adam have just moved back to Ohio, where they are about to help launch another new Adolescent program at Children’s Meeting House near Cincinnati.

Adam Ladd
Adolescent Director, Children's Meeting House
Adam received his AMI certification in 2015 after working for a year under the guidance of AMI consultant Pat Ludick at Hudson Montessori School, teaching and then coordinating the program. In 2020, Kelly and Adam moved to Arizona to help start a farm-based Adolescent program at Creo Montessori School. As the Adolescent Director, Adam developed curriculum based on the farm for both middle and high school. In addition to working in Montessori programs, Adam serves as an international Montessori consultant. He and Kelly have just moved back to Ohio, where they are about to help launch another new Adolescent Program at Children’s Meeting House near Cincinnati.
