Our Guest: Mick Scott
Show Notes
Mick Scott joins us to discuss what he considers one of the most profound lessons missing in K-12 education: where our emotions come from, what they’re pointing toward, and how to experience them in a healthy and empowering way.
Mick describes emotions as vibrations within our body that are the dashboard indicators of what’s happening in our minds. While we think our emotions are pointing to our circumstances, they’re actually pointing to our minds. Mick explains that there are 4 ways we deal with emotions, and only one of them is reliably healthy for us, the people we care about, and the things we’re committed to.
About our Guest
Mick Scott
Transformational Life Coach at New Sight Coaching and High School Teacher at the St. Paul's School
Mick’s mission is to elevate the well-being of all life, and he is committed to being unconditionally in love with life. He helps clients and students access their innate brilliance, creativity, and well-being in living life full out and in service of what they really care about.
While working for over 16 years at three quite different schools (public and private) and a university during the summer, Mick has taught well over 1000 high school students, developed problem- and project-based curricula for K-12 classes, led a high school academic department with 16 teachers, run a K-12 STEM program, and prepared and trained faculty for pandemic teaching. Mick’s students have ranged in age from 10 to 19, and his private coaching clients have ranged in age from 15 to 70.
Through Mick’s teaching and leading in high schools while participating in various personal development and coaching programs, he’s discovered a gap in our education system: we have an innate capacity for ease, enjoyment, and effectiveness no matter the circumstances of life, but most of us never learn to access it. Mick’s workshops and coaching are designed to help clients access this innate capacity, and to do so with confidence, clarity, and enjoyment. From this place within themselves, Mick’s clients are able to more easily, enjoyably, and effectively make a positive impact in areas of life that matter to them.
Mick studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Maryland.
